Day 1 – Tuesday 4th of May 2027

We will meet Olivia at the airport in Marseille for those flying in from the USA. For guests arriving by train from Paris, we will meet you at the station.  We will drive to Saint Maximin la Sainte-Baume and visit the Basilica. The Sainte-Baume Basilica (officially the Basilique Sainte-Marie-Madeleine) is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in southern France, especially for those following the spiritual path of Mary Magdalene.

According to Provençal tradition, Mary Magdalene came to Provence after the Resurrection of Christ and spent her final years in prayer and contemplation in a cave in the nearby Sainte-Baume mountains. Her relics were later discovered in the 13th century in the town of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, leading to the construction of this grand Gothic basilica to honor her. Welcome dinner at the restaurant next to the hotel. (included) Hotel in Saint Maximin la Sainte Baume

Day 2- Wednesday 5th of May 2027

Pick up sandwiches (not included) and, high in the forested cliffs of the Sainte-Baume massif, visit the Grotte de Sainte-Baume, a revered pilgrimage site traditionally associated with Mary Magdalene.  Reaching the grotto involves a peaceful walk through ancient woodland, ascending along a stone path lined with centuries of devotion. Inside, the atmosphere is cool, quiet, and deeply contemplative — a sacred space that has drawn seekers, pilgrims, and mystics for generations.

Today, pilgrims from around the world gather at the fortified Church of the Sanctuary of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, honoring her enduring presence and the deep mystical heritage of this luminous coastal town. where sea, sky, and spirit meet, inviting reflection, renewal, and a quiet sense of the sacred.

Day 4, Friday, 7 th of May 2027

We will check out of our hotel and travel to Carcassonne for a guided tour with Olivia, then have the rest of the day to explore before continuing to Chateau les Ducs Joyeuse. Carcassonne, ‘La Cité’, is a fascinating fortified city in the Occitanie region of France that dates back to the Neolithic Period.  Carcassonne was of great strategic importance due to its location between trade routes connecting the Atlantic to the Mediterranean.  It is vast, encompassing no less than 53 towers, strung together by two enormous concentric walls, surrounded by a moat, and punctuated here and there by heavy barbicans, portcullis, and draw-bridges.

We love walking around the inner walls of the city and visiting the fortress inside the City. You’ll find shopping and restaurants inside the walled fortress. In the afternoon, we will continue our journey to Château les Ducs Joyeuse.  Château des Ducs de Joyeuse

Breakfast and Dinner

Day 5: Saturday, 8th of May 2027

We will spend three nights in the magnificent Chateau des Ducs de Joyeuse, located in the picturesque town of Couiza, nestled in the heart of the Cathar region. This 16th-century castle, a historical gem, is listed for its architectural significance and sits on expansive grounds along the serene River Aude. Initially built for the Dukes of Joyeuse in the mid-1500s, the castle has been beautifully restored and is now a charming hotel. During our stay, we will indulge in daily breakfasts and savor exquisite dinners at La Cour des Ducs, where you can experience the finest of local gastronomy, surrounded by the castle’s timeless elegance.

Today, we explore the former Roman spa town of Rennes-le-Château, nestled in the hills of Languedoc in southern France — a village steeped in mystery, legend, and enduring intrigue. Rising to prominence in the late 19th century under the enigmatic priest Bérenger Saunière, Rennes-le-Château has long been associated with hidden treasures, coded symbols, and sacred secrets.

One of its most fascinating features is the mystical portal said to be mapped into the land itself — formed by five surrounding mountain peaks that create a natural geometric pattern. Many believe this sacred landscape carries powerful energetic alignments, long associated with esoteric traditions and spiritual symbolism.

For those walking the path of the Magdalene, Rennes-le-Château holds particular resonance. It is often linked to legends of Mary Magdalene in the South of France, becoming a focal point for seekers drawn to the divine feminine, hidden wisdom, and the mysteries woven into this ancient land.

Here, history and myth intertwine, inviting us to look beyond the visible and listen for the deeper story whispered through stone, mountain, and sky.

Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included. Château des Ducs de Joyeuse

Day 6 Sunday  9th of May 2027

With Oliva’s guidance, we will journey to the Throne of Isis, High above Rennes-le-Château. A short walk through the quiet forest leads to a magical and contemplative place known as the Chair of Isis. Perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the valley, this natural stone formation invites stillness and reflection amid the wild beauty of Languedoc.

Local legend associates this site with the ancient goddess Isis, whose archetype represents sacred wisdom, rebirth, and the nurturing power of the Divine Feminine. While the historical origins of the name remain uncertain, many spiritual seekers experience this place as an energetic point of alignment — a symbolic throne of the Great Mother overlooking the land.

For those journeying in the footsteps of Mary Magdalene and exploring the deeper currents of feminine spirituality, the Chair of Isis becomes more than a viewpoint. It is a sacred pause — a place to meditate, listen, and reconnect with the ancient current of the Divine Feminine, said to flow through this mysterious landscape.

After our picnic lunch, we will venture to Alet-les-Bains, a charming medieval village renowned for its ancient Roman baths, natural hot springs, and healing waters.

Once a flourishing Roman spa town, Alet-les-Bains became famous for its thermal springs, long believed to possess restorative and even miraculous properties. The warm, mineral-rich waters still flow today, a reminder of the town’s sacred relationship with healing and renewal.

Among its most romantic legends is the Lovers’ Pool, a secluded spring said to bless couples who bathe in its waters with harmony and enduring love. Over the centuries, pilgrims, nobles, and seekers of healing journeyed here, drawn by both the curative springs and the peaceful beauty of the surrounding countryside. You will have the opportunity, if you wish, to bathe in the hot springs.

Day 7 Monday  10th of May 2027

Toulouse in the South of France

After breakfast, we depart for Toulouse, which has always attracted mystics, magicians, and heretics. As early as the 11th century, ancient texts preserved by the Islamic world and translated from Arabic into Latin had slipped over the Pyrenees from Spain into the southern lands of Occitania. In the warm sun of the south, art, music, literature, philosophy, poetry, and religious tolerance fermented and blossomed, making way for the spiritual movement known as Catharism. The Jewish communities of Narbonne, Beziers, and Carcassonne became essential sites of Kabbalah study. Courtly Love and the poetry of the troubadours enhanced the Southern Nobles’ courts.

Upon arrival, we will have lunch on our own, then walk to the Black Virgin church of Notre-Dame de la Daurade, a basilica founded in 410, when Emperor Honorius authorized the conversion of Pagan temples to Christianity. The original Notre-Dame de la Daurade was a temple dedicated to Apollo. Afterward, we will check into our hotel. Hotel Les Capitouls Best Western  Lunch and Dinner on your own
